What is Kilo Code?
Kilo Code is an open-source AI coding agent, released under the MIT license, that runs in VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, and the CLI, with Cloud Agents, a Slack integration, and a code reviewer alongside. It works through Ask, Architect, Code, Debug, and custom modes, and connects to 500+ models through Kilo's gateway, your own provider keys, or local models.
Anaconda announced its acquisition of Kilo Code on July 15, 2026, and Kilo says existing products, plans, and support are unchanged for now.
The extension is free, and model usage bills at provider rates with no markup, although credit purchases carry a 5% processing fee. Kilo Pass subscriptions at $19, $49, and $199 a month add bonus credits on top of what you pay, and Teams at $15 per user adds usage analytics, shared modes, and centralized billing.
